Birkbeck Professor Sarah Childs talks about the role of gender in British Prime Minister Theresa May’s time in office during a public talk at the University of Auckland in August 2018.

Childs: More to Theresa May than kitten heels

Sarah Childs poses with P2P co-investigator Jennifer Curtin.

A highlight of the P2P team’s trip to New Zealand was Prof. Sarah Childs’ public lecture at the University of Auckland on August 2, 2018. Childs provided a compelling analysis of British Prime Minister Theresa May’s premiership, including the state of her feminist agenda and the gendered challenges she faces in light of the Brexit vote. Her lecture followed on the (kitten) heels of a presentation to New Zealand women activists earlier in the week on the state of women’s representation in Great Britain. Childs also shared her insights with Auckland news audiences during a 15-minute interview on Radio NZ National. Childs is a professor at Birkbeck, University of London in the United Kingdom.
